The CFDA has just announced those 10 promising young designers who will be moving into the CFDA’s garment district Fashion Incubator studios next May, WWD is reporting.

The program launched in 2010 with a $200,000 grant from the city and is now underwritten by Target. Chosen designers are provided with several hundred square foot studios priced well below market value ($1,500-$2,000). It’s a major help for a designer just starting out, allowing them to take the exorbitant amount of money they may have been spending on rent and put it into their business. It’s also just a great way for a young designer to get on the CFDA’s radar. This year, however, the program will do more than just give designers a place to work, starting with the program’s first members, which include Prabal Gurung, Sophie Theallet, Waris Ahluwalia and others.

They are the first beneficiaries of a new partnership with NYU’s Stern Consulting Corps., a selected group of NYU Stern M.B.A. students who will provide full business mentoring to the incubatees. They’ll help the designers develop “full financial statements, cash flow projections and investor-ready business plans.” This added business incubation component may prove even more beneficial to the designers in the long term–especially in a time when even the most talented designers can fail as the result of poor business practices.

With the kiddos going back to school and Halloween decs already out and about at your local discount stores, I’m starting to feel like I’ve been robbed!!!! Of summer that is! I’m totally into great pics that are of beautiful people, or weird concepts, or anything that catches attention, makes waves, and causes a stir! Here are a few or my favs

There have been times when a late night has inspired me to wear my ummmm….comfy stay-in-bed inspired clothes the next am to work or play. And there have been times when deciding what to wear has made me wish that going nude was perfectly acceptable (Ugggg why bother!) But now my “wear what makes you happy” attitude has been taken to the next level and given me the permission to chicly wear my sleep wear! Thank You Rachel Roy!!!!



Just when we thought it was safe to go outside!!! This just goes to show you that “criminals” are genius!

Sometimes it takes getting out of your own backyard to find the latest and greatest in trends, that may not even been covered in the newest glossy issues or chattered about on bossy blogs. So on our recent scouting trip to The Windy City I was all tickled pink to find one of the hottest trends emerging in my most favorite product category!

Some say (Julie Stotlar included) that animal print is the worst act of animal curlity a person could commit, but sintements were changes when our world famous cobblers added the eleiment of, wait for it…wait for it….FAKE FUR!!!!

Every high end couture coterie was sporting the trend in their shoe sections, from Barney’s to Prada and YSL, hairy feet have never been so In Vogue!

 In these the Dog Dayz of Lou Summer, no one’s looking amazing! With sweat dripping down my brow and my skirt sticking to my tush, looking lush is a struggle! So this summer I’m skipping stressing about what to wear and focusing more on who to accessorize with. And this my friends, is why I’ve turned to Designer Jen Cook for Juxtapose, who is pretty much the Jacob The Jeweler of the greater STL Metropolitan area! Since each of Jen’s pieces are a statement in-and-of itself, I’m free to look like a hot sticky mess, and best of all the prices are tres attractive so you’ll have some change left over for a snow cone.
