SOMETHING PEOPLE MIGHT NOT KNOW ABOUT ME
I’m an identical twin and I play the harp.
I was so thrilled to have spent some time in the last week with Cary of Cary O’Brien’s Design and Color Spa in St. Charles. We talked hair, fashion, trends and what is going on in the world of and makeup for this Spring.
Taking your hair a few shades lighter is definitely a hot trend for Spring. Cary warns not to go too light too soon because subtle and demure suits most women. Highlights can be natural or strategically placed around the face for a more youthful and fun look.
On the runways we have been seeing a lot of looks that were popular in the 60′s and 70′s in both hair and fashion. We saw some fantastic shorter cuts happening that reminded me of 60′s fashion icon, Twiggy. You can see the similarities here on Talisa O’Brien, Cary’s wife.
We’re seeing a lot of color this year when it comes to makeup. Cary is as fan of using purples to make your eyes and makeup really stand out against lighter hair. Think corals and bright pink for the lip. The good news is that anyone can wear this trend. Just make sure you’re selecting shades that flatter your skin tone.
You can watch this segment of Show Me St. Louis to listen to the rest of what Cary recommends for you this Spring!
Featured here is local designer and boutique owner, Nicole Moss. The designer was featured in Fashion Week last year and will be returning again this year. Nicole Moss has designed for stores like White House Black Market and Neiman Marcus and has participated in runway shows in New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and of course, St. Charles.
Her boutique, MOss, which she owns with her mother is located in downtown St. Charles. The store offers labels such as her own and Silver Jeans. They also offer custom embroidery and you can even get an outfit designed just for you! You can check out more of what they have to offer at www.nikmoss.com. Also, come see Moss’s latest designs this year at Fashion Week!
Ladies. We have all been there. Errands, getting the kids to school, making it on time to that meeting…while saving enough time for Starbucks of course. Wether you are a fashionable mom, savvy career woman, a 20-something trying to make it in the world or maybe even all of the above, time is not a luxury many of us have. So, what can you throw on in a hurry while still remaining polished and put together? A few things:
A topcoat like the one I found on Talbots.com. This coat is very structured and requires almost nothing more to make you look effortlessly put together. Making sure that your selections have a structured fit and are tailored to fit your shape are essential when choosing a wardrobe.
If you are looking for something a little more casual for Spring, check out this trench coat that I also found on Talbots.com. The color is so right for the season and the style will look great over jeans or even a suit.
Finish the look off with a polished bun, ballet flats and a well-fitting pair of skinny jeans like the ones shown below from byrdstyle.com, and voila! You look fabulous and put together!
